SIUH/NYSNA NP Negotiation Update – September 30, 2020
Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) and the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) met yesterday for our seventh negotiation session.
While the negotiations have been respectful, progress has been extremely slow as we continue to have differing viewpoints regarding the inherent differences in professional scope and job responsibilities between NPs and the NYSNA-represented staff nurses at the hospital. Our intent remains to negotiate a new contract that is tailored to the unique and evolving role our NPs play in delivering patient care. The union continues to stubbornly resist this philosophy. As always, we will continue to bargain in good faith.
If you haven’t already done so, we encourage you to sign up for text message updates about the status of negotiations by texting SIUHNP to 77295. Text messages are factual, infrequent and brief, and contain a link to the full update residing on our website for SIUH NPs. You may also opt out at any time.
We look forward to making further progress at our next negotiation session on Oct. 15, and will keep you updated.
